The prolific partnership of William Boice Langford (1887-1977) and Theodore Moreau (1890-1942) warrants recognition among the great golf course designers of golf’s Golden Age. Joining forces in 1918, Langford Moreau combined a profound appreciation of strategic golf with modern construction practices. The end result was an artistic melding of natural and constructed golf course features which provide a diversity of challenges that reward skilled and thoughtful golf. Lawsonia Golf Course (restored by Ron Forse) in Green Lake, Wisconsin is ranked among the Top 100 Classic Golf Courses by Golfweek Magazine. Other notable courses include Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Illinois where they improved upon the work of Donald Ross and The Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, which currently hosts the PGA Senior Tour Principal Charity Championship. Langford was a founding member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and a long-time member of the USGA Public Links Committee.
